A short summary of 2018

The new guidebook

2018 was the year of changes and it went really quickly. We signed a contract for a new guidebook, the GR-70. We moved countless times before in September, we finally moved into our home. Also we managed to escape from the bare reality a few times this year.

The Algarve

After the long and cold winter, in March we were happy to spend 2 weeks in the sunny Algarve researching trails for our new guidebook. We have found some very nice trails and enjoyed the views of the endless rugged coastline. There was fine weather for walking and there were plenty of orchids to look out for.

Brecon Beacons

During the unusually hot and nice summer we managed to spend some weekends away. It started with the first Bank Holiday weekend in May that we spent in the Lakes District. We stayed in our favourite campsite and spent 3 days walking in the mountains.
During the summer months we had a weekend on the Jurassic coast and followed two sections of the South west coast path. One Friday afternoon in July we drove to Brecon Beacons and spent the weekend in South Wales. South Wales spoiled us with sunny weather as we followed a circular route taking on Pen y Fan and some neighbouring mountains.

Robert L. Stevenson Trail (GR-70)

And then the rest of the summer was spent with preparation for our first ever 2 week long trek in France. In August we walked the Robert Louis Stevenson trail (GR70) in France. It was a great experience that taught us many things. We are planning to re-walk the GR70 trail again next summer as we are writing the new Trekking the Robert Louis Stevenson Trail guidebook.

Catalunya

We spent the first week of October in Catalunya, and explored some trails in Montserrat and Montseny Natural Park. It has been a busy year and we have already made travel plans for 2019.
