Camping Fonts del Algar

Camping Fonts del Algar

Location

There are dozens of campsites dotted around on the Costa Blanca, but Camping Fonts del Algar stands out for many good reasons. Nestled in the mountains, but only about 30 mins drive from the coast this campsite provides a perfect base whether you want an active holiday or a few relaxing days. Camping Fonts del Algar is located only a few minutes’ walk from the famous, and well visited Fonts del Algar waterfall and you will also find some excellent hiking trails or cycle routes nearby. This family-owned campsite-ran by a small and dedicated team - welcomes and caters for bikers, hikers, families, group of friends as well as solo travellers.

Camping Fonts del Algar pitches
We spent some time at this friendly place in January that is considered off season in the busy campsite life, and we enjoyed some peaceful and relaxing days while exploring the area.

Facilities

There are plenty of large plots with electricity for campervans and caravans and there are also pitches for tents. One thing to note is if you are travelling with one of the monster motorhomes this may not be your campsite as it would be a tight squeeze. But you don’t have to miss out on the camping experience if you don’t have a campervan or tent as you can rent one of the cosy wooden cabins or one of the bungalows that are available in various sizes and styles to cater your needs. In the summer there is also option for Glamping.
You will find showers and toilets in two different locations at the campsite. I enjoyed a hot shower every evening in the modern ladies’ shower block. The men’s bathroom may not have been refurbished at the same time as the ladies' but it was always kept very clean. Washing machine and sinks for rinsing clothes are available and there is a washing up area with numerous sinks.

Camping Fonts del Algar restaurant and café

In the heart of the campsite there is a restaurant building with plenty of tables and chairs outside where you can enjoy a cold drink with mountain views. If it is a bit too chilly to sit outside, you can have your snack or dinner inside where in January a fireplace with a crackling log fire welcomed us every day.
You can also buy local products and some essentials in the small ‘shop’ that you find in the corner of the restaurant. If you need to do a grocery shop, the nearest supermarket is about 10min drive away in Callosa de’n Sarria. There is a barbeque area with large picnic tables where you can gather with your family or friends.

Things to do near Camping Fonts del Algar

You should visit the Fonts del Algar Waterfall during your stay but bear in mind that it is a very popular beauty spot and there is an entrance fee as well as parking cost. However, if you stay at Camping Fonts de Algar, you can save on parking as the waterfall is only a few hundred metres from the campsite. Top tip: Ask the owner about the best times to visit the waterfall to avoid the crowd. From the campsite you can also join the PR-CV 48 route that climbs up to Bernia Fort (5km one way).
The coast is about 30mins drive from the campsite, so you can wander the steep narrow streets of Altea or follow the undulating coastal path between Benidorm and L’Albir. Inland you can visit the pretty village of Gaudalest steeped in history and some of the highest mountains in the area are only a short drive away so you can climb Puig Campana one day and swim in the sea on the next.

Whether you want to enjoy some relaxing days or hiking in the mountains or go on bike rides, we can truly recommend basing yourself at Camping Fonts de Algar.
